Overmono (Recording Live From The Depot)
Following up on the poster I created for last years Boiler Room at The Warehouse Project headed by Overmono, this poster is created ahead of their return to Depot Mayfield (WHP) as a part of their Pure Devotion Tour.
Poster created using various pieces of type extracted from images in Psychogeographie — Neue Typographie.
This poster is inspired by a Boiler Room DJ Set by electronic music duo Overmono. The duo have taken up a significant amount of my music listening over the past couple of years, and this live set in particular is one of my favourites. Overmono use very distortion-heavy graphics during their live events, especially in their most recent tour since releasing Good Lies which informed many of the stylistic choices in this piece. A time-stamped collection of lyrics taken from tracks throughout the set cascade down through the middle of the piece, aligned horizontally based on their relative appearance in the set. The title of these tracks is laid next to the first line of lyrics from the corresponding track on the poster, causing the spacing to be non-uniform. The subtle brutalist choices in colour scheme and texture reflect the environment of the Depot Mayfield (Warehouse Project) in Manchester, in which the live set was hosted.
